Monotheistic Religions Unit
Why Teach Religion?
*from the American Academy of Religion Reason One: There exists a widespread illiteracy about religion in the United States. Reason Two: One of the consequences of religious illiteracy is that it often fuels prejudice and conflict, which hurts efforts to promote respect for diversity, peaceful coexistence, and cooperation. Reason Three: It is possible to diminish religious illiteracy by teaching about religion from a nondevotional perspective in primary, middle, and secondary schools. |
